Learning how to make more money or get out of debt doesn't have to be complicated. The books and magazines on this list are easy, entertaining, and informative reads.
Handling money is a part of life that everyone needs to understand. Children will someday be on their own, young adults will want to retire, and someone with little money now may have their situation soon change. It’s also not a good idea for those who are wealthy, or anyone for that matter, to just trust a financial advisor or their spouse to deal with all of the money issues. Understanding how to do things like create budgets, buy a home, and get out of debt is made much easier with the help of books and magazines like these. Best Way to Get Out of DebtStart off by brushing up on financial vocabulary. David Bach has written The Finish Rich Dictionary: 1001 Financial Words You Need to Know. This book provides clear definitions and examples of terms such as Roth IRA, Sallie Mae, and Latte factor. The Total Money Makeover: A Proven Plan for Financial Fitness by Dave Ramsey has 13 chapters. They include “Debt Myths”, “The Debt Snowball” and “Pay Off the Home Mortgage”. Personal Finance Books with Budgeting TipsMore titles from David Bach’s Finish Rich series are: Start Late, Finish Rich: A No-Fail Plan for Achieving Financial Freedom at Any Age; Smart Women Finish Rich: 9 Steps to Achieving Financial Security and Funding Your Dreams; and Smart Couples Finish Rich: 9 Steps to Creating a Rich Future for You and Your Partner. These are not “how to get rich quick” books, but they will show readers ways to get out of credit card debt and stick to budgets in order to reach financial goals. One thing to remember is that the Smart Women book is not helpful for women only; the Smart Couples book has tips that can be helpful for single folks, too. Suze Orman is another respected financial advisor. Three of her titles include Suze Orman’s 2009 Action Plan; The Money Book for the Young, Fabulous and Broke; and Women and Money: Owning the Power to Control Your Destiny. One is geared toward women and another toward recent college graduates, but the Action Plan really is for everyone in this economy. It includes chapters on borrowing from a 401(k), buying a first home, and finding ways to save money. How to Get Rich by Making Money with a WebsiteMultiple Streams of Internet Income: How Ordinary People Make Extraordinary Money online, 2nd Edition is by Robert G. Allen. The 16 chapters teach readers about internet marketing, search engine trafficking, and of course, the major ways people make money online. It has information on affiliate programs, advertising, auctions and more. One of their three annual specials is called Success With Your Money and it is scheduled to hit newsstands on September 29th this year. Divided into the main sections of “20+: Starting Out”, “30+: Family Years”, and “40+: Empty Nesters”, it answers key financial questions for every stage of life. This year’s October issue features articles that include “Boomerang Budgeting”, “A Better GI Bill”, and “Tax Friendly Places to Retire”.
